Is it easy to set up an SMM panel? The real steps, start to finish

PanelHubs Team · · 5 min read

Yes, setting up an SMM panel is easy on the technical side, as long as you use a platform rather than building one yourself. On PanelHubs there is no script to buy, no server to manage and nothing to install. The parts that take real time are business decisions: which provider, which services, which prices and which payment methods.

Below are the actual steps from sign-up to your first order, with a rough idea of how long each one takes. These are honest estimates, not promises; your own pace will depend on how prepared you are.

Step 1: Sign up and choose a plan (a few minutes)

Create your account and pick a plan based on how many orders you expect each month. Plans start at $15 a month for up to 1,000 orders and go up to unlimited orders, with no per-order fees. You can see the full list on our pricing section.

There is no free trial: the first month is invoiced when your panel is created. You can pay with Paystack or Flutterwave (cards, bank and mobile money in Africa), or with card, PayPal or crypto elsewhere. Starting on the smallest plan is fine; you can move up when your volume grows.

Step 2: Your panel is online (immediately)

Every panel gets a free address in the form yourname.panelhubs.online. That means you can start setting things up and testing straight away, without waiting for a domain.

Step 3: Connect your own domain (minutes to a few hours)

Using your own domain is optional but strongly recommended for a brand. You point the domain to PanelHubs' nameservers, or add an A record, at the company where you bought it. Once the DNS change is visible, your panel goes live on the domain automatically within minutes, with HTTPS issued for you and Cloudflare protection in front.

The waiting, if any, happens at your domain registrar. Some registrars apply changes quickly; others take longer for the change to spread. If you use business email on the same domain, the DNS records page lets you manage MX and TXT records, and existing records are copied in when you connect.

Step 4: Connect a provider and import services (one to three hours)

Get your API URL and key from a provider that uses the standard API v2, add them to your panel, and import the services you want with your markup. The import is quick. Choosing which services to keep and rewriting their descriptions so customers understand them is what takes the time.

Don't skip the test order. Place a small order on an account you control and watch it go through. Our step-by-step guide on how to connect a provider walks through this in detail.

Step 5: Set up payment methods (minutes to several days)

This is the step with the widest range. Adding a gateway to your panel takes a few minutes: you paste in the keys from your gateway account. PanelHubs supports 80+ gateways, including Paystack, Flutterwave, M-Pesa, MTN MoMo, Stripe, PayPal and several crypto options, and the money goes straight to your own accounts.

The slow part is outside the panel. Gateways usually need to verify your business before you can accept live payments, and that can take anywhere from a day to a couple of weeks depending on the provider and your documents. Start that process early. While you wait, you can offer a manual payment method where customers upload proof of payment, and approve those yourself.

Step 6: Design your panel (an hour or two)

Pick a theme from the gallery, then use the visual editor to set your logo, colours, fonts and page blocks. You can preview the result on phone, tablet and computer, which matters because many customers will order from their phones. If you prefer, customers can also install your panel as an app on their phone, with your logo, without any app store.

Also choose your panel's main currency and languages. Customers can view prices in their own currency, and the panel can run in English, French, Portuguese, Arabic, Swahili or Spanish.

Step 7: Final checks and your first order (an hour)

Before you invite customers, go through your panel as a customer would:

  • Sign up with a test account.
  • Add a small amount of funds with each payment method.
  • Place an order and follow its status.
  • Open a support ticket and reply to it from the admin side.
  • Turn on two-factor sign-in for your owner account.

Then tell your first customers. Friends, existing clients or a community you belong to are a good start.

What usually slows people down

  • Waiting for gateway approval. The most common delay. Apply early and use manual payments in the meantime.
  • Importing too many services. Thousands of untested services make the panel confusing. Start with a short list you trust.
  • Chasing a perfect design. A clean, readable panel is enough to launch. Polish later.
  • Domain confusion. Changing the wrong settings at the registrar, or forgetting existing email records. Read the DNS steps slowly.
  • An empty provider balance. Orders fail until you top up. Fund the provider before launch, and switch on low balance alerts.
  • Unclear pricing. Decide your markup and minimum margins before launch, not after the first complaint.

Getting started

If you have a provider in mind and your gateway documents ready, you can realistically go from sign-up to a first real order within a day or two. Without them, plan for a week. Either way, the technical part is handled for you. When you are ready, create your panel on PanelHubs.
