10 tips for kick-starting your SMM panel in the first 90 days
PanelHubs Team · · 4 min read
The first 90 days of an SMM panel decide a lot. It is when you learn which services work, which customers stay and which habits keep the business running. You do not need to get everything right. You need to get the basics right and keep improving.
Here are ten concrete tips, grouped by month. Treat them as a checklist you come back to, not a race.
Month one: get the foundations solid
1. Test every service before you promote it
Place a small order on each service you plan to feature. Note how long it took to start, how fast it delivered and whether it held up after a week. Rewrite the description with what you actually saw. If a service fails your test, hide it until you find a better provider.
2. Test every payment method end to end
Make a small real payment through each gateway you enabled, whether that is Paystack, M-Pesa, MTN MoMo, a card processor or crypto. Check that the balance arrives and the amount is right after any fees you set. A payment that does not credit is the fastest way to lose a new customer's trust.
3. Price from your costs, not from your competitors
Work out your real cost per order: provider price, payment fees, refunds you expect and your monthly plan. Then set a markup that leaves you a margin. Turn on automatic price following so provider changes do not catch you out. Our article on cheap SMM panels explains why the lowest price is rarely the best strategy.
4. Write your FAQ before customers ask
Answer the obvious questions in advance: how to add funds, how refills work, what happens with partial orders, your support hours. On PanelHubs, partial and cancelled orders are refunded to the customer's balance automatically, so say that clearly. Customers relax when they know the rules.
Month two: build trust and your first loyal customers
5. Answer support fast, especially now
Early customers judge you on how quickly you reply. Pick one or two channels you can actually keep up with, such as tickets plus a WhatsApp button or a live chat widget, and publish your hours. A clear reply within an hour builds more loyalty than a discount.
6. Handle failed orders every day
Make it a daily routine to check failed orders. On PanelHubs, failed orders are kept with the provider's reason, and they are resent automatically after you top up the provider. Watch your low provider balance alerts, and set backup providers on your best-selling services.
7. Turn your first buyers into promoters
Switch on the affiliate program with a commission you can afford, and tell your early customers about it personally. A reseller in Nairobi who earns commission for every friend they bring is a better marketer than most ads. Add a modest welcome bonus so referred friends have a reason to try their first order.
Month three: grow on purpose
8. Read your reports and cut what does not work
By now you have real data. Look at your reports for payments, orders, profit, services and customers. Which services earn the most? Which ones cause the most tickets? Which payment methods do people actually use? Remove or reprice the weak services and promote the strong ones.
9. Reward the customers who stay
Set up loyalty levels so regular customers get a discount as they spend more. Give your biggest resellers custom prices and point them to your API v2 so they can order automatically. Use promo codes for specific campaigns rather than permanent price cuts, and send broadcasts to announce new services or price changes.
10. Publish useful content, in your customers' language
Start a simple posting rhythm on your panel's blog: one helpful post a week is enough. Explain your services, answer common questions and write for your niche. If many of your customers speak French, Portuguese, Arabic, Swahili or Spanish, consider offering the panel in that language too. Fill in your SEO settings so search engines know what each page is about. Content takes time to bring visitors, which is exactly why month three is a good time to start.
A few things to avoid
- Adding hundreds of services at once. A smaller, tested list is easier to support and easier for customers to choose from.
- Relying on a single provider. Even good providers have bad days.
- Overpromising. Never sell engagement as coming from real people when it does not, and remind customers to follow each social platform's rules. Honest descriptions prevent disputes.
- Ignoring security. Turn on two-factor sign-in for your own account and for staff, and give staff only the permissions they need.
Measure progress honestly
There is no standard target for the first 90 days. Some panels grow quickly because the owner already had customers; others take months to find their market. Instead of comparing yourself to someone else's screenshots, track your own numbers each month: active customers, repeat orders, average margin and support response time. If those are moving in the right direction, you are building something that lasts.
Getting started
The best time to start your first 90 days is when you have a plan and the tools to follow it. PanelHubs gives you payments, providers, growth tools and reports in one place, with hosting and updates handled for you. Create your panel and start working through this list.
